You might not have been paying attention to the calendar recently, but Christmas is fast approaching. This year has flown by; it seems like only the other day I was taking down the Christmas decorations. However, I do love this time of the year when it’s getting darker and colder. You have the perfect excuse for wrapping up in your cosy pyjamas with a cup of hot chocolate. In only a few more weeks we will be faced with the full festivities of Christmas, so here are the things we have to look forward to.

Decorating Your Home
Getting your home ready for Christmas is so much fun. I don’t know about you, but the glow of fairy lights warms my house so nicely. Nothing beats the smell of a real Christmas tree, and decorating it is the best. Some of my favourite tree ornaments are the Gisela Graham Christmas Decorations. They are so beautiful and unique. You are bound to find something that suits your style too.

Festive Clothing
It isn’t just your home you can decorate. You can wear your Christmas excitement with pride in the form of festive socks and jumpers.

Presents
I love receiving presents. I mean, who in their right mind is going to say otherwise. It makes Christmas all the more fun. But, as much as I love getting presents, I love giving presents even more. Taking the time to think about what my friends and family will enjoy is really fun for me. I recommend you all to get a head start on your shopping and start thinking about what you are buying now! Trust me, you will be thankful you have everything when Christmas Eve rolls around. Think about how smug you will be as other people are scrambling to find something to give to their friends.

German Markets
In recent years, wherever I go I seem to find German markets and I love them. Last year I went to a trip to London and was lucky enough to catch the market and fair they have in Hyde Park. They have an ice skating rink, German food, craft stalls, beers and mulled wine, live music and even a circus. I’m sure if you live near a big city, there will be some form of market similar in style. I recommend a visit if you are feeling particularly Scrooge-like this year. It really puts you in the Christmassy mood.

Time Off from Work
OK, not everyone gets time off, so if you don’t, skip over this point. If you do, however, think about how many Christmas movies you can watch as you lie on the sofa all day. Nothing is more relaxing than that time off between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Advent Calendars
I don’t care how old you are. Peeling back the doors on your advent calendar to find a chocolatey treat is a great start to any day. Or, if you have real restraint, see if you can hold out until Christmas day and then you can scoff down 25 chocolates!
