5 things we are looking forward to at Kent County Show

It is that time of year again where one of the most popular Detling events takes place.

This 8, 9, 10th July Kent County Show returns and there is something for the whole family. Open from 8am to 6pm every day, the Show is a wonderful day out with plenty of displays, entertainment and local food.  With over 400 exhibitors and trade stands and over 300 competitions, activities and displays. The three day event brings together the very best of Kent with animals and food, fun and excitement and above all a sense of what ’The Garden of England’ has to offer.

So what are the top 5 things to keep an eye out for:

Titan’s unique blend of comedy, street theatre and music created a show unrivalled in the world today and has lead him to appear on TV shows such as Big Brother, Daybreak and the Gadget Show as well as popping up at many prestigious events including the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix and the UK premier of iRobot and Real Steel.

The ‘Spirit of Kent’ better known as ‘The Kent Spitfire’ is a MK9 TA805 with the No. 234 Squadron colours.  The aircraft flies in memory of No. 131 (County of Kent) Fighter Squadron.  The Kent Spitfire will complete an exciting display over the Kent Showground on all three Show days.

Fun Fair
The traditional funfair is a nostalgic nod to days gone by when funfairs were built by craftsmen and travelled the country. The Kent County Show had an exciting blend of rides and stalls that tests your skills and give you plenty of thrills!

Recreational Activities and Forestry Schools
The use of woodlands for recreational activities is on the rise. Visit the Kent Scouts and Girlguiding Kent stands to see how these successful youth organisations use the outside in their programmes. Have a go at archery or try your hand at rifle shooting or take part in one of the activities run by one of our local Forestry Schools.

Kent Young Farmer's Clubs
The Kent Young Farmers have a large area at the Kent County Show, with young people aged 10 to 26 taking part in classes for a large number of Trophies and Awards.  This is the largest gathering of Young Farmers in Europe with more than 300 members competing.

You can come along any of the 3 days, and buy your tickets upon arrival. The weather is looking ok (on current forecasts - so I have my fingers crossed), although the rain doesn't stop many people from coming along. It is a perfect place for a family day out and it's time to get back close to nature and support local farming!

I will be there on the Saturday exploring, doing a touch of live streaming.
