Living Above Your Means As A Student

Let’s face it; along with being one of the most exciting times in life, your time at university will be the most challenging you’ve faced when it comes to finances. With very limited income, unavoidable expenses, and plenty of parties to attend, there won’t be much room for error when you’re still at school. This leaves a lot of people feeling daunted about their studies, assuming that they will have to make compromises at every turn. In reality, though, a financial situation is only what you make of it, and this post is going to be showing you how to turn student living into a life of luxury.

Learning Resources: Books, software, and the other resources you need for your learning can often be very expensive, and this drains money which could be spent on other things. To avoid these costs, things like books can often be downloaded for free without breaking any laws. There are loads of publishers which have released their work for open downloads. Along with this, when it comes to software, you can usually find free alternatives to the expensive examples your university wants you to buy.

Accommodation: Having a good place to live is hard when you’re at university. The property on campus will be expensive for the space you get, and will often be very old, making it feel undesirable. Of course, though, there is nothing stopping you from going to a company like Fortis Student Lettings to find a more affordable alternative. Being a dedicated company, this sort of route will often land you in a much nicer place while you study, and this will be worth the effort for a lot of people.

Food And Drink: When you move away from home for the first time, you have an opportunity to go on an adventure, chasing the things you’ve never had the chance to try. Food and drink will be a big part of this, but it will be hard to afford these luxuries without the right kind of work. Opening nights, coupons, and other methods to get cheap meals at restaurants can be the student’s meal ticket. Not only will a route like this save money, but it will also help you to choose where you want to go.

Other Luxuries: There are loads of products, services, and other things which you will want to spend your money on when you’re studying. Of course, though, deals can’t always be found, and this may call for another angle to be taken. Part time jobs can provide a good amount of money for very little work. Taking a day or two a week for this won’t impact your learning, but it could give you the supplement you need to start doing the things you enjoy.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to start working harder on the time you put into your luxury living while you’re a student. Most people won’t even think about an approach like this when they are learning, and this is a shame, because it doesn’t have to be hard.
