Top Tips for Staying Safe in the Sun

Limit your sun time

Especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. That's when the sun's rays are at their strongest, plan indoor lunch breaks or schedule nap times during those hours.

Drink lots of H2O

If you're out in the sun all day, chances are you're sweating and dehydrated skin can be more prone to sunburn. So be sure to carry around a bottle of water with you and take regular breaks.

Wear Sun Cream

Why anyone doubts this one I have no idea but be sure to wear some - and especially the kids. The NHS suggest at least a SPF of 15 and that blocks both UVA and UVB rays is so important! Put it on 15 minutes before you are going out and reapply ever few hours (especially if you have been in the water).

Cover Up

Protect that skin! Wear clothes and sunglasses that provide sun protection, such as:
  • a hat (a wide brim one would be wonderful to protect more)
  • loose fitted clothes that cover but obviously allow you to breathe still
  • sunglasses with CE mark and UV protective filter.
