As a way to save money, you may forgo the lavish holidays most of your friends go on. And just because you're not going abroad doesn't mean you cannot have a great holiday anyway! So many more people are choosing to have staycations, where you, basically, stay at home instead of going on holiday! But, for those people that want to sample the varieties of life, especially when they've got a few weeks off in the summer, they don't want to spend it hanging around the house! So, with that in mind, let's find you some ways to have a semi-staycation!

Sampling The Foods
When you think about how much it costs to go somewhere abroad, a lot of the budget is eaten up in the travelling. So instead, think about booking a hotel somewhere. Even if it's 50 miles down the road, you're able to, at the very least, get out of the house, and sample some of the delicacies local to that place. The fact is most of us go on holiday to stuff our faces! And if this is your primary objective, there are foods you need to try, but you don't have to go abroad to sample them! There are fantastic Chinese restaurants, Indian ones, Thai, Japanese, and the list goes on!

Focus Back On Your Friends
You have a couple of weeks off from work? Maybe it's time to reconnect with the friends you've been too busy to hang out with. We can all feel guilty that we don't spend enough quality time, but what you can do when you're in staycation mode is book your social calendar up for that couple of weeks and meet them for dinner, drinks, or head to the cinema. You probably won’t be able to meet up in a group because it's physically impossible these days, so why don't you arrange intimate one on one dinners with friends so you can truly reconnect with them? Have a nice meal, and then adjourn to a beer garden, and those summer months in your local where it’s nice and warm late at night can feel like you are on holiday somewhere wonderful anyway.

Do You Have Some Budget?
A lot of people go for the holiday home approach to things now. In many ways, it's less hassle, because you don't need to go out of the country, and there are some fantastic holiday homes in West or North Wales. And in fact, places like Lyons Holiday Parks can give you the opportunity to make payments towards your own holiday home. Because if we can't get abroad, that doesn't mean we should stay at home barricaded indoors. If you've got some budget, and there's the opportunity to, at the very least, rent a holiday home, then this is just as good as going on holiday. In fact, it's a very popular approach anyway, and there are plenty of options depending on your budget. A caravan holiday is a very exciting, yet quaint, adventure. If you're used to the high life, “slumming” it in a caravan with a few of your friends, and toddling off to the local pub can be all the fun you need!

Do You Have No Budget?
No budget? No problem! There are numerous free events you can take advantage of. And that's the amazing thing with a staycation; you can actually take advantage of local events that cost nothing! In fact, if you don't really spend much time in your local area, and you're busy with work or life in general, it's worth taking this opportunity to find some amazing locations on your doorstep. If you don't have the budget to go for a lengthy sojourn somewhere, all you need to do is find the best things you can do for free in your local area with a swift search online, and there are a handful of things at your disposal. Pack a picnic, and get going!

Go For A Wander
With travel companies providing very cheap bus tickets, why don't you try and go somewhere random, even if it's just for the day? After all, London is a few hours away, and you can get up early, take the National Express, be there in time for breakfast, have a wander around by yourself, and just lose yourself in a big city. And let's not forget, the numerous ways to go couch surfing, or use a spare room via Airbnb, and you've got a very cheap way of exploring. Sometimes we take what's on our doorstep for granted, but whether it's somewhere like London, Cardiff, or Edinburgh, these big cities have millions of things to do that you can get lost in museums, art galleries, restaurants, or you can take the opportunity to soak up the culture.

Go To The Beach!
None of us are far away from a beach, and if you can just hop in the car and drive 20 minutes, you will have some beautiful sights right there. The beach is a wonderful thing to do because you can get ice cream, relax in the sun, or just go for a bike ride. And this can be enough for us to feel rejuvenated. After all, the best way to feel like you're going on holiday is to trick your senses.
What is it like when you go on holiday? There's a warm beach, there's plenty of beer, usually ice cream, and an abundance of food. Of course, there's a little bit more to it than that with regards to the local tourist attractions, but if you want the feelings of a holiday, but you haven't got the money to get on a plane, a semi-staycation can give you that feeling for a fraction of the cost.

When we're looking for something to do with our two weeks off in the middle of the year, we can fantasize about going on holiday, and realise that we don't have the money. But, this could be more stress than it's worth anyway. At least when you have a staycation, you know where you are!
